Open PositionThis Senior Tooling Design Engineer will be the technical bridge between our local manufacturing excellence and the USA-based engineering teams. They will lead the development of complex blow mold layouts, from initial part file analysis to mass production. This role requires a high level of expertise in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), scientific molding techniques, and 3D design fabrication.
• Global Collaboration: Partner closely with the USA Engineering group and Technical Managers to integrate part requirements into high-performance blow mold designs.
• End-to-End Design: Lead the development of blow mold concepts, layouts, and fabrication-ready full 3D design files.
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Identify and communicate innovative design suggestions to optimize productivity, tool longevity, and cost-efficiency.
• Advanced Technology: Incorporate state-of-the-art mold-making technology, metallurgy, and innovative design strategies (including scientific molding techniques).
• Project Leadership: Manage complex project timelines and technical quality, overseeing mold sampling, Design of Experiments (DOEs), and troubleshooting from trial to production.
• Research & Innovation: Develop and present solutions for tooling standards, low-cost alternatives, and new material performance for both local and remote factory sites.
• Cross-functional Coordination: Act as the technical lead between Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Program Management to ensure timely project completion.
• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 4-6 years of experience in a Plastics Manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years of dedicated experience in Blow Molding Design and engineering (specifically with aluminum-bodied molds, complex cores, and inserts).
• Good English communication.
• Proficiency in creating fabrication-ready 3D blow mold design files.
• Strong knowledge of machining functions and full mold assembly.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot all standard mold components.
• Self-directed and capable of operating with minimal supervision; excellent communication skills for remote collaboration with international teams.
• Processing experience (to bridge the gap between tool design and production) and Moldflow software experience is a significant plus.
